KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany – The Army and Air Force Exchange Service has scheduled a computer system outage between 4 a.m. and 2 p.m. next Wednesday. During that time, drivers in Germany will not be able to use their fuel ration cards at AAFES service stations and off-base Esso stations.

Customers in Germany will still be able to purchase fuel at AAFES facilities using cash, debit or credit cards, according to AAFES officials. They will not be able to use their Esso prepay option, obtain or replace fuel rations cards, nor make any transactions on their accounts.

The exchange service is advising drivers not to fill their tanks off base during the planned outage, as they will be charged local market prices.

The outage is necessary to perform critical system maintenance and software upgrades, AAFES officials said in a news release.
