BAUMHOLDER, Germany — The Army and Air Force Exchange Service has scheduled a system outage between 5 a.m. and noon. Sunday that will prevent motorists in Germany from buying fuel at Esso stations with their fuel ration cards, according to a news release.

Customers will be able to buy fuel at AAFES gas stations on various posts, but they cannot pay for the fuel with any existing money on their fuel cards. Patrons must use cash or credit and debit cards instead, officials said.

During the shutdown, AAFES also will not be able to issue or replace fuel ration cards, add money to fuel card accounts or do balance/ration inquiries.

The outage is necessary for AAFES to perform critical system maintenance and adjustments due to the end of daylight saving time.
