YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan — Yokota Air Base has canceled a program that provided on-base summer jobs for teenagers.
The program, which paid youth $5.50 an hour to help out at on-base facilities last summer, was canceled this year to save money, a base spokesman said Tuesday. The Air Force will save $53,000 by not running the program this year.
Summer hire programs for teenagers will still be offered at many other military facilities in South Korea, Okinawa and mainland Japan, according to officials.
