SEOUL — A change of command ceremony for U.S. Forces Korea will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at U.S. Army Garrison-Yongsan’s Knight Field.

Gen. Walter Sharp, who is retiring, will be replaced by Gen. James Thurman, who most recently commanded the Army Forces Command, which oversees the manning, training and equipping of more than 700,000 soldiers in the United States.

Sharp has led USFK since June 2008
