“Out of an abundance of caution, we are directing our kindergarten parents to keep their children home from school and avoid public locations, including the Child Development Center, until further notice,” said a memo sent by Department of Defense Education Activity-Japan and Atsugi medical officials.

The undated memo was authored by DODEA-Japan community superintendent Gregg G. Mowen and Atsugi branch health clinic senior medical officer Lt. Cmdr. Kyle Harvey. It was also posted to the school's Facebook page on Friday.

Parents and pupils experiencing symptoms are advised to contact the Atsugi branch medical clinic at DSN 264-3311 before arriving at the clinic, the memo stated.
