SASEBO NAVAL BASE, Japan — Capt. Francis X. Martin will relinquish command of Sasebo Naval Base to Capt. Charles W. Rock during a 10 a.m. ceremony July 29 at the Fleet Fitness Center, base officials said Thursday.

Martin, who has commanded the base for more than three years, will be transferring to Commander Naval Installations Command in Washington, D.C., according to a release. During his tenure, Martin saw the base named Installation of the Year for 2009 by Commander Naval Forces Japan.

Rock comes to Sasebo following a stint as division chief, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Strategic Plans and Policy Directorate.
