The force will awaken a bit early for some lucky "Stars Wars" fans on Guam.
Proximity to the international dateline will allow island theatergoers to be among the first Americans to view “Stars Wars: The Force Awakens,” when the highly anticipated film opens Dec. 18.
Guam Visitors Bureau is taking that jump-start a step further by throwing a ticket-giveaway that will allow two people to view the seventh “Star Wars” film a day early. Contest details are available at oog.visitguam.com. The advance premier will include a "Star Wars" costume contest, trivia games and Guam-brand merchandise giveaways, a bureau statement said.
The film has experienced “unprecedented ticketing demand,” according to Fandango, the United States’ largest online movie ticket retailer.
Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill — a graduate of Nile C. Kinnick High School at Yokosuka Naval Base, Japan — and Carrie Fisher return to their iconic roles for this installment, set 30 years after 1983’s “Return of the Jedi.”
