CAMP ZAMA, Japan — Will Badillo of Zama American became the second pitcher to throw a Japan Baseball League no-hitter in as many weeks.

The left-hander allowed two baserunners and struck out 13 in five innings as the Trojans shut out Matthew C. Perry 21-0 at Rambler Field. Yokota’s Shawn Novak threw a perfect game against Perry last week at Yokota Air Base.

“He was just throwing strikes, getting the ball over. He was behind only one or two batters. That was a lot of it,” coach Tom Allensworth said.

Badillo also hit a home run, and in the second of two Japan League games on Friday, homered twice, giving him four this season, as the Trojans beat Robert D. Edgren 25-5.

“Four homers in four games and 26 strikeouts in two games. He’s doing pretty well,” Allensworth said.

Badillo helps form the core of the Trojans, along with fellow seniors Nick Villasana, Anthony Garcia and Miguel Vega. “I’ve got a pretty solid basis there,” Allensworth said.

The coach is hoping for bigger and better things down the line for Badillo. “He’s throwing the ball well, and seeing it well and hitting it hard at the plate.”

Zama improved to 2-2. Edgren is 1-3 and Perry fell to 0-4.
