YONGSAN GARRISON, South Korea — In preparing for World Bowl XII, Seoul American coach Julian Harden went to great pains to remind his DODDS- Korea All-Stars of last year’s lopsided World Bowl loss in Singapore.

When he’d say “55-6” to the offense in practice, he said they’d reply: “Not on my watch.” The defense would say, “Never happen again.”

It didn’t.

The Korea All-Stars used a balanced offensive attack on Saturday to hand the Singapore All-Star Falcons their second-worst loss in World Bowl history, 51-0 at Seoul American’s Falcons Field.

The Korea All-Stars came within seven points of matching their biggest World Bowl triumph, 58-0 in 2000, in Harden’s first attempt at piecing together players from the three teams in the DODDS-Korea League, Seoul, Osan and Taegu American.

“We weren’t playing together as a team,” Harden said of last year’s one-sided loss, the biggest defeat Korea has suffered in the World Bowl. “When we do come together and play as a team, this is what happens. It was a well-rounded victory, with everybody coming together to make it happen.”

Harden’s regular-season quarterback, Bruce Voelker, went 8-for-10 for 141 yards and touchdown passes of 25 yards to Seoul American teammate Daniel Burns and 57 to fellow Falcon Phillippe Anglade.

Falcons senior back Leo Pacheco ran 19 times for 125 yards, with TD runs of 7, 3 and 12 yards. Anglade caught three passes for 90 yards and ran a reverse 7 yards for a score.

Contributions from Osan came from Charles Walker, who also scored on a 7-yard run and went 4-for-7 for 82 yards. Osan’s Carlos Albaladejo booted a 36-yard field goal.

On defense, Taegu’s Stephan Scott had an interception, a fumble recovery and a sack and Mychal McGee an interception. Seoul’s Scott Tunis picked off a pass and Justin Lee blocked a punt.

“I’m glad these guys got a chance to come together and build this team, and work toward a common goal,” Harden said. He credited his assistant coaches with doing much of the legwork in putting the team together.
