Thousands of runners will fill the streets in Washington, D.C., and northern Virginia Sunday when the gun goes off for the 36th Marine Corps Marathon.

Race organizers say the field for the main event, a 10K race and a kids' fun run will total 43,000 runners.

Among those entered in "the people's marathon" are comedian Drew Carey and 91-year-old World War II and Korean War fighter pilot Col. Johnathan Mendes.
