NOVARA, Italy – Grant Trochesset and Alex Weaver combined on a two-hitter Wednesday and got plenty of run support from their teammates as Germany USA reached the finals of the EMEA Senior League baseball tournament with an 11-0 victory over Bulgaria.

The team - made up of American high school baseball players from Stuttgart, Ramstein, Kaiserslautern, Spangdahlem and Heidelberg - will play Thursday night for a berth in the Senior League World Series against the winner of the Italy-Kuwait game that was being played later Wednesday.

The U.S. team breezed through the preliminary rounds of the tournament, outscoring its four opponents 51-2. That includes victories over Italy (9-0) and Kuwait (10-0).

Trochesset, who moved from Patch High to Vicenza this year, gave up only one hit in three innings of work against Bulgaria. Weaver, who attended Heidelberg, surrendered only one hit in his two innings of work.

Ian Acosta, Dylan Measells, Aaren Blossom and Ryan Tannenbaum each had at least two hits for the American team, which scored five times in the opening inning on six consecutive hits. The team had 13 hits in all, according to manager Larry Tannenbaum.

In Junior League action, a team also composed of American players based at bases in Germany was playing Wednesday in Kutno, Poland, against their counterparts from Great Britain. Results were not available. The winner advances to play in Thursday’s semifinals.
