CAMP CASEY, South Korea — 1st Lt. Aaron Braxton can claim a link to fame — one of his good friends in college was Steve McNair, the Tennessee Titans quarterback.

Braxton, a medical platoon leader with the 2nd Battalion, 72nd Armor Regiment at Camp Casey, recently wrote McNair asking for something to give soldiers. McNair responded by sending three autographed footballs.

The footballs will go to enlisted servicemembers because “that’s who we need to motivate,” Braxton said, adding that they’ll be handed off to those who have demonstrated exceptional performance and technical proficiency in their missions.

Braxton and McNair were in the same fraternity, Omega Psi Phi, at Alcorn State University in Lorman, Miss. He knew McNair from 1991-95, and the two continue to correspond through e-mail and phone calls, Braxton said.
