S.D. Butler foils MLG in Marine Forces Pacific soccer title game

Broken hearts well may come as standard equipment for players and coaches on the 3rd Marine Logistics Group soccer team, which once again had theirs shattered in Saturday’s championship match of the 2006 Marine Forces Pacific Regional Soccer Tournament.
Alvaro Soto-Barcenas scored in the sixth minute and Arnold Kusero netted his second goal of the tournament in the 59th minute as host Marine Corps Base Camp S.D. Butler captured the tournament title by blanking 3rd MLG 2-0.
It’s the third time in four years that 3rd MLG has lost the championship match in a tournament it last won in 2001. 1st Marine Aircraft Wing beat 3rd MLG 2-0 in last year’s title match.
