Ramstein’s women and Spangdahlem’s men completed undefeated runs through the 2004 U.S. Air Forces in Europe soccer tournament with title-game victories Wednesday at RAF Alconbury, England.

In the men’s game, defending champ Spangdahlem scored in the first minute, then added four goals in the second half for a 5-0 win over Ramstein. Dale Davis scored twice, and Steve Haro, Richard Graham and Juan Martinez added one each, with Graham’s coming on a penalty kick.

Both men’s teams will participate in the Army-Air Force soccer championship tourney, which begins Saturday at RAF Alconbury. Ramstein opens against Heidelberg, the USAREUR and defending Army-Air Force champ at 2 p.m., while Spangdahlem plays USAREUR runner-up Vicenza at 4. The winners will play Sunday at 2 p.m. for the title.

In the women’s game, Ramstein, also the defending USAFE champ, got the only goal in a tight game with Aviano when Tobi Erskine scored about halfway through the second half.

It marked the second time in the tourney that Ramstein had shut out Aviano.

There is no Army-Air Force tournament for women.
