TOKYO, Japan – Three years of futility at Mustang Valley came to an end Friday night for the Yokota Panthers, who stayed unbeaten on the young season with a 27-21 victory over American School in Japan.
The Panthers, who rallied from 14-7 and 21-13 deficits, scored the last 14 points.
A mostly senior group of Yokota players avenged three straight defeats at Mustang Valley and concluded some unfinished business from last year – ASIJ handed Yokota, which won its first Far East Division I title, its only defeat of the 2011 season.
Yokota improved to 3-0 with the victory. The game served as ASIJ's season opener.
