CAMP HUMPHREYS, South Korea – Blocking and tackling were areas that coach Aaron Mundy felt his Humphreys Blackhawks needed to improve if they were to make an impact on the Far East Division II football season.

They worked on both during Saturday’s 48-8 win over Songdo, a Korean high school team, “and it showed,” Mundy said. “We will have to continue to get better in these areas to compete with the big dogs” if Humphreys hopes to host the D-II title game on Nov. 7.

It was the third time in three games that the Blackhawks scored 30 or more points. They are second in DODDS Pacific in scoring offense, 25 points behind Yokota, and third overall in the Pacific. Father Duenas Memorial of Guam is second overall with 145 points, but in five games.

Unlike the Blackhawks’ last game in which they scored all their points in the air, Humphreys scored six of its seven touchdowns on the ground.

Miles Brice rushed for two touchdowns, while Dashun Cline, Jordan Holden, Trey Schreurs and Bashr Edmonds scored once each on the ground. Cline also caught a touchdown pass from Brice Bulotovich.

All DODDS Korea schools have next week off due to the Chu Seok holiday period, the Korean equivalent of Thanksgiving. The Blackhawks next host two-time defending D-II champion Daegu on Oct. 2; kickoff is 6 p.m.

The Blackhawks need to win by 11 or more points to gain the points tiebreaker edge over the Warriors, who beat Humphreys 40-30 on Sept. 11.
