CAMP FOSTER, Okinawa — Sunday’s Okinawa Football League game pitting Ryukyu University against the Foster-Futenma Bulldogs has been postponed due to the approach of Typhoon Meari. No makeup date was announced.

The postponement was announced Friday by Mike Walker of Marine Corps Community Services Semper Fit Athletics, sponsor of the OFL, which was to open Saturday with two games at Courtney Bowl.

Typhoon Meari, expected to pound Okinawa on Sunday and Monday with wind of up to 105 mph, also put in doubt the start of the Marine Forces Pacific Regional Soccer Tournament. No postponement was announced.

Round-robin play in the tournament is scheduled to start Monday.

Weather officials at Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, projected Meari to produce wind of 57 mph or greater until 3 p.m. Monday.
