A Valentine’s Day wrestling tournament and the 8th U.S. Army qualifying racquetball championship highlight the February sports calendar in 2nd Infantry Division “Warrior Country,” sports officials announced Thursday.

The Warrior Invitational wrestling tournament starts the slate, at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 14 at Camp Casey’s Carey Fitness Center. Weigh-ins and medical exams are slated for 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Officials said the event is open to all active-duty servicemembers assigned to U.S. Forces Korea bases.

The Warrior Division Racquetball Championship, held Feb. 21 and 22, will take place at Carey Fitness Center, open to selected players from U.S. Army Garrison Camps Casey and Red Cloud.

The top four finishers in the men’s open division and the top two in the men’s senior, men’s master and women’s divisions advance to the 8th Army championship, scheduled for March 3-6 at Camp Hialeah in Pusan.

Casey-Red Cloud women’s hoops series scheduled

CAMP RED CLOUD, South Korea — Women’s basketball teams from Camp Casey and Camp Red Cloud will battle each other in a best-of-three series later this month with a berth in the 8th U.S. Army tournament on the line, sports officials said Thursday.

Game 1 is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Jan. 19, Martin Luther King Day, with Game 2 to follow at 7 p.m. on Jan. 20. Game 3, if needed, is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 21. All three games are slated for the Camp Red Cloud Fitness Center.

Camp Casey is 15-4 overall, 8-2 and in first place in the Korea Traveling League. Camp Red Cloud is 8-3 and second in the KTL.

The 8th Army women’s championship is scheduled for Jan. 29-31 at the Kelly Sports and Fitness Center, Camp Walker, South Korea.
