Valerie Stanley scored twice and Tatiana Miranda scored one goal Saturday as unbeaten Vicenza wrested the girls’ Region IV league lead from Marymount with a 3-2 win over its previously unbeaten guests from Rome.

Tracie Robinson had an assist for Vicenza (4-0-1). Marymount (4-1-0) got its goals from Lavinia Salini and All-Europe striker Elena Carrarini.

Vicenza, coming off a 1-1 tie against Sigonella the previous week, can wrap up the regional crown with victories at Milan next Saturday and at Aviano on May 15. Marymount, too, will be on the road the rest of the way, with games at Florence on Saturday and at Sigonella on May 15.

In other girls soccer games of note:

SHAPE 1, ISB 1: Saturday at Mons, Belgium, Lauren Taylor converted a penalty kick with one minute to go to keep International School of Brussels unbeaten.

Taylor’s conversion of a PK, awarded for a rough tackle in the box, equalized one scored earlier in the second half by SHAPE’s Veronica Sivertsen. It was awarded for a hand ball in the box.

"Our team was having a rough time winning the ball in the first half," SHAPE coach Shawn Whitehurst said in an e-mail Saturday, "but came out strong in the second half, largely due to outstanding efforts (by) our midfielders Veronica and Miriam Sivertsen, Kate Tate and Andrea Dargie."

Both teams are unbeaten in regional play. ISB is 1-0-2 overall and 0-0-2 in Region I; the Lady Spartans, whose loss came to Region III power Patch, is 2-1-1, 2-0-1.

SHAPE was coming off a 2-1 road victory Friday over Brussels of Division III. Elizabeth Burden and Kathryn Bell each scored and assisted on each other’s goal.

Patch 4, Black Forest Academy 1: In a Region III showdown Saturday at Stuttgart, All-Europe striker Nellie Loney scored twice, and Heidi Heber added a goal and an assist as the unbeaten Lady Panthers (5-0-0 overall, 4-0-0 in the region) handed BFA (4-1-0 both ways ) its first loss.

Mannheim 2, Bamberg 0: In a non-regional game Friday at Mannheim, 2008 All-European Alana Crockwell scored two unassisted goals as the Lady Bison earned their first win of the season.

Naples 6, Aviano 1: Saturday at Aviano, Demi Holbrook broke loose for three goals in the first half and added a second-half assist as the Lady Wildcats rolled.

Haylea Witz had two goals and an assist for Naples(3-2-0). Aviano (2-3-0) got its goal from Alex Ostler off a cross from Cheryl Craver.
