Paul Arsenault scored two unassisted goals, and Scott Letendre scored off a feed from Eldon Ellis as the Geilenkirchen Flyers defeated SHAPE 3-0 in the championship game of the seventh annual USAFE hockey tournament.

Arsenault scored five goals in the three-day, eight-team round-robin event, which concluded Sunday in Garmisch, Germany. He also had two assists in the Flyers’ five victories, giving him seven points, second to SHAPE’s Arron Akitt (eight goals, one assist).

Geilenkirchen’s defeated the U.K. team 3-2 in overtime in the semifinals. Marty Way scored twice, including the game-winner, for Geilenkirchen; his teammate Keith Milford had the other score. Chad Myers scored both U.K. goals, with the second one forcing the overtime.

SHAPE defeated Aviano 3-1 in the other semifinal.

Also participating were the Baden Bruins of the Heidelberg-Mannheim area, Spangdahlem, Ramstein and Bad Aibling.
