All-European Bianca Lopez earned the victory in both games and stole home for the winning run in the opener Saturday as the Patch Lady Panthers defeated visiting Ansbach 9-8 and 19-2 in high school softball.

Lopez’s theft capped a five-run, last at-bat rally by Patch (4-0), which trailed 8-4 when the final inning began.

Angel Roman set the stage for the dramatic finish when she doubled in two runs and scored on a single by Anne Wasson to cut Patch’s deficit to 8-7. Lopez brought Wasson around with a single to tie the game, then used her legs to finish the job.

Lopez came on in relief in the top of the final inning to pick up the win.

Lopez started the nightcap and went the distance, allowing just two hits and three walks while striking out 14.

Wasson and Simone Reaves homered, and Reaves, Roma and Teronica Burns each collected a double n the win over Ansbach (0-4). Lopez posted a walk and three singles in her five trips to the plate in the nightcap.

In another Saturday doubleheader:

Alconbury 12-10, Baumholder 5-8: At RAF Alconbury, England, Caitlin Cloum won both games as the Division IV Dragons evened their season record at 2-2 overall and in Western Region play.

According to Alconbury coach Duke Eidt, Cloum stucke out four in the opener and 10 in the nightcap, a game in which Alconbury rallied for five runs in the top of the final inning to finish the sweep of Baumholder (2-2 overall and in the region).
