Sophomore Shane Foley pitched five scoreless innings Thursday, striking out four and allowing two hits as Ramstein downed Kaiserslautern 3-0 in a Western Region high school baseball game.

According to Ramstein coach Glenn Porter, Foley benefited from the bats of the Grotelueschen brothers, Drew and Jon, who went a combined 5-for-6 and scored Ramstein’s second and third runs. Drew, a junior, stroked three singles in three at-bats; Jon, a sophomore, rapped two singles in his three at-bats.

Foley scored Ramstein’s first run in this six-inning game, breaking a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth. He singled to lead off the frame and eventually came in from third base on a fielder’s-choice grounder.

Aaron Blossom pitched four innings for the Raiders. He took the loss despite allowing just four hits.

Kaiserslautern is 4-1 overall and in regional play. Defending European Division I champion Ramstein improved to 4-2 overall and 3-0 in the region.
