Lakenheath collected as tough a victory as there is in DODDS-Europe on Saturday by handing defending European Division I champion Kaiserslautern its first loss of the season, 46-40 in overtime on the Lady Raiders’ floor.

“They played a great game,” Kaiserslautern coach Corey Sullivan said by telephone Saturday. “They were ice from the line, especially in overtime.”

Lakenheath, which had trailed most of the game, finally forged a 33-33 tie at the end of regulation, Sullivan said, then took charge in overtime. “Once we went to OT,” he said, “they took over.”

Tekeia Wallace scored 16 points to lead the Lancers, whose only loss of the season came in overtime – 61-59 at the American School in London. Jessica Serd added 10 points for Lakenheath (8-1) overall.

K-town (6-1) was led by its All-Europe duo, Kiara Sanchez-Herrera and LaTanya Wilson. Sanchez-Herrera scored 18 points and pulled off five steals. Wilson had nine points, five rebounds and three assists.
