The Alconbury Dragons claimed their first victory of the season Saturday by blanking winless Brussels 45-0 at Alconbury.

Devin Pryor carried nine time for 194 yards and three TDs for the Dragons (1-4), who claimed a berth in this Saturday’s Division III semifinals at unbeaten Sigonella. Sigonella (5-0) was idle Saturday.

Pryor scored on runs of 21, 30, 59 and 90 yards. His output increased his season total to 1,060 rushing yards on 88 carries — a 12-yard average — and eight touchdowns. It was Pryor’s second straight 1,000-yard rushing campaign. Last year, he rushed for 1,229 yards and 17 TDs on 89 carries.

The wide-open spaces of the D-III nine-man game also were evident in the totals posted by Alconbury’s other ballcarriers. Kerry Kuheana matched Pryor’s 20-yards-plus per touch with 127 yards and a touchdown run of 53 yards on just six carries. Nate Shirley posted Alconbury’s best average on Saturday, when he went 55 yards for a touchdown on his only carry of the game. Dominique Littleton added a 6-yard TD jaunt for Alconbury in the courtesy-rule romp.

Marc Cogdell led Alconbury with 10 tackles. Kuheana and Austin Hill each had eight and Pryor six.

Brussels (0-4) trailed 39-0 at halftime.

In Saturday’s other scheduled D-III game:

Flu decks Rota: An outbreak of suspected flu left Rota with too few players to make the trip to Saturday’s scheduled game at Menwith Hill.

The forfeit handed Menwith Hill (4-1) second place in the regular-season D-III standings and a host berth for Saturday’s semifinal game against Rota (2-3).
