Fourteen men’s teams and six women’s teams from four European countries competed for United States Forces Europe basketball championships March 21-24 at Stuttgart, Germany.

The Lakenheath men, led by tournament MVP Jarrod Butler, outlasted Spangdahlem 56-50 to claim the men’s title. Wiesbaden took third place. Teams from as far as Sigonella and Incirlik filled out the double-elimination bracket.

Wiesbaden made Spangdahlem a runner-up on both sides with a 38-31 championship-game victory. Jackie Sanders and Porsche Mitchell shared MVP honors for the Lady Eagles. Ansbach claimed third. Italy’s Aviano made the trip to complete alongside five German entries.

The four-day tournament was held at USAG Stuttgart facilities Patch Barracks, Kelley Barracks and Panzer Kaserne.
