VILSECK, Germany – In this hyper-competitive DODDS-Europe Division I football season, terms like “winless” and “undefeated” aren’t as significant as you might expect. The homestanding Falcons proved that Saturday, earning their first win of the season with a slim 14-13 victory over previuolsy-unbeaten Wiesbaden. Will Peters picked off a Warrior pass midway through the fourth quarter and delivered it 25 yards for a touchdown. Ben Miser nailed his second extra point of the afternoon for the winning margin. While a loss would have badly damaged the home team’s postseason aspirations, Peters’ pick-six and Miser’s clutch kick thrust Vilseck squarely back into the postseason picture. Four of Division I’s six members will advance to the playoffs, and Vilseck can return to .500 with a win over struggling Lakenheath next weekend. Wiesbaden will host Kaiserslautern on Friday in hopes of dragging the unbeaten Red Raiders into a one-loss tie. Brittion Blackmon opened the game’s scoring for Vilseck on a second-quarter 2-yard run. Wiesbaden answered to tie the game before halftime and take the lead after the break, both scores coming on passes from Reymoi Lewis to CJ Pridgeon. But a missed Warrior extra point eventually proved costly. Zarabion Riley handled 13 carries for 72 yards to pace the Vilseck offense. Defensively, Peters made 10 tackles and forced a fumble, Armando Saldana totaled seven tackles, including four for a loss, and forced another fumble and Kyle Hinton pounced on two fumbles, including a late loose ball that nixed a Wiesbaden comeback effort. Daivon Poole led the Warriors with 78 yards on 18 carries. Lewis competed 11 passes for 145 yards; Pridgeon grabbed five of those balls for 121 yards.
