Registration is open for the annual U.S. Forces-Europe Army Ten-Miler, which is scheduled for July 9 in Grafenwöhr, Germany.
The top six finishers for both men and women will be nominated to represent U.S. Army Europe at the Army Ten-Miler in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 9, assuming they meet qualifying times for that race.
Soldiers who are nominated will still need their commander’s approval to be placed on orders to compete in the October event, according to an Installation Management Command-Europe news release.
Those wishing to register can do so at https://webtrac.mwr.army.mil/webtrac/Grafenwoehrrectrac.html, click on the “Start a new Pre-Registration” tab, and after receiving a password, click on the 10-Miler icon at the top of the page.
Free housing is available for runners on a first-come basis, according to the release. For more information, contact Grafenwöhr’s Recreation Division at DSN 475-9024 or 09641-83-9024.
During last year’s qualifier, Maj. Keith Matiskella of the Joint Multinational Training Command in Grafenwöhr beat the old track mark by almost three minutes, finishing in 53 minutes, 9 seconds. Matiskella went on to finish 20th in the Washington race.
