VILSECK, Germany – The hard-nosed Vilseck Falcons gave another opponent all it could handle Saturday without coming away with a win.
The visiting Ramstein Royals scored all their points before halftime and outlasted the host Falcons for a gritty 17-3 victory.
Nile McIntosh rushed in two first-quarter Ramstein touchdowns to build an early lead for the visitors. But the fast-moving scoreboard slowed to a crawl soon after.
A second-quarter Royal field goal pushed the lead to 17-0 and represented the team’s final points of the afternoon.
While the defense held after halftime, the Vilseck offense couldn’t make up the difference. Only a fourth-quarter 43-yard field goal by Falcon kicker Caleb Miller kept the team from a shutout loss.
Ramstein’s Ben Ciero led all rushers with 120 yards, while McIntosh finished with 65. Royal safety Malik Jackson had two interceptions, including a key fourth-quarter pick.
Drew Pinckney was an iron-man standout for the Falcons with 131/2 tackles, including five for loss, and 12 carries for 71 yards. Gabe Lewis had 13 tackles for Vilseck.
Postseason-bound Ramstein completes its regular season at 4-1, while Vilseck wraps up its season at 1-4.
