STUTTGART, Germany – For the second straight week, the Patch Lady Panthers played hardball in an Eastern Region softball doubleheader Saturday. Behind the pitching of Amber Marvin and All-European Bianca Lopez, Patch thumped the visiting Ansbach Lady Cougars, 18-1 and 17-0.In addition to fanning nine Ansbach batters in her shutout victory in the nightcap, Lopez brought along her biggest bat, according to Patch coach Brian Tingey.Tingey said Lopez slammed a three-run homer in Saturday’s opener to back Marvin’s 10-strikeout outing, and clubbed a grand slam to help her own cause in the nightcap.Lopez wasn’t alone in posting memorable games at the plate for Patch, which dispatched visiting Hohenfels, 18-0 and 19-1 on opening day. Jessie Rahn stroked two doubles in three at-bats in the opener and added a third double in a 2-for-3 outing in Game 2.Shannon Wright was a combined 4-for-5 with a double in each game, and Sydney Loy went 2-for-3 in the nightcap, according to Tingey.Patch is taking a 4-0 record into spring break and next plays visiting Heidelberg on April 23. Ansbach, 1-3, is scheduled to play its second straight D-I opponent when it travels to Vilseck on Saturday.
