MONS, Belgium – The Rota Admirals got a rude welcome to Division II on Saturday, thanks to the host SHAPE Spartans. Conner Manning rushed for 215 yards and three touchdowns and caught another one for 53 yards in the Spartans’ 35-0 victory. The senior running back also completed a pass for 51 yards. He wasn’t alone in piling up numbers. Junior quarterback Brett Cain piloted the offense and completed two of his three passing attempts. His freshman brother, Seth, scored one touchdown while rushing for 55 yards. Senior Connor O’Brien caught two passes and was among a host of SHAPE players credited with multiple tackles and tackles for loss on defense. Taylor Ator led the way with five solo tackles and eight helps. Four of his tackles were in the Rota backfield. Junior Jonas Camacho led the Rota offense with 55 yards rushing, while Onele Lozano had eight tackles to lead the defense. Rota has consistently fared well in Division III nine-man play before moving up to D-II in a DODDS-Europe makeover this year. The Admirals host the International School of Brussels on Saturday, while the Spartans entertain AFNORTH.
