BRUSSELS, Belgium – Jennifer Marten and Maike Schwarz led the way Saturday as the International School of Brussels Lady Raiders blanked the visiting Lakenheath Lady Lancers, 5-0, in a Region I soccer game.“…Schwarz and Marten combined exceptionally well to cause all kinds of problems for Lakenheath,” ISB coach Neil Allen wrote in a Saturday night email. “Jenny’s skill and vision and Maike’s pace combined for the fifth goal, with a visionary through-ball.“Both of … Marten’s goals were excellent, though the first, a volley from eight yards direct from Joanne Harrower’s corner, stood out,” Allen continued. “Carolina Skoog’s goal was also a long-distance strike.”ISB named Harrower, a senior, its “Lady of the Match,” Allen wrote, for her “complete command of the midfield.ISB led 3-0 at halftime on goals scored in order by Schwarz, Skoog and Marten, Allen reported; Marten and Schwarz each added their second goals after intermission.Allen, whose own defense kept Lakenheath so well-contained that ISB goalkeeper Monica Rangel was called on to make just one save, praised the work Lakenheath center back Dominee Roehm.“…Roehm was a truly superb performer, combining strength, pace, bravery, and an ability to marshal the defense throughout the game,” Allen wrote. “Without her, there could have been many more goals.”Allen also praised Lakenheath keeper Kelli Fleming, who made 10 saves.
