The tables have turned in DODEA-Europe Division III football.

The visiting Baumholder Bucs knocked off the Ansbach Cougars 46-28 on Saturday in a 2019 season opener that represented a stunning reversal of the division’s 2018 fortunes. Baumholder finished last season without a win, while Ansbach was the undefeated, undisputed champion.

Baumholder scored 21 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to turn a narrow deficit into an exhilarating victory.

Baumholder received significant contributions from all over its lineup. Hiromi Maranga caught six balls for 135 yards and a touchdown. Wilbur Turgeon totaled 200 yards and three touchdowns. Michael Blue threw for two touchdown passes and caught another, while Braden Jewell produced 45 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown. Jaheim Sharp, meanwhile, starred in all facets with a rushing touchdown, an interception and a 60-yard fumble recovery return for a touchdown.

Devin Jenkins paced Ansbach offensively with 133 yards on 12 carries, including touchdown runs of 48 and 41 yards. Dustin Martin completed seven passes for 195 yards and two touchdowns, received by Josiah Quinland and Brenden Henderson. Damion Lopez-Turrey led the Cougar defense with nine tackles, one sack and a fumble recovery.
