ROTA, Spain – Baumholder outlasted host Rota 20-7 on Saturday in a rematch of last year’s Division III European championship football game. Nobleman Soule scored two touchdowns and Isaak Giefer scored another as the Bucs escaped a 7-7 halftime tie with the Admirals. Patrick Laroblis crossed the goal line for Rota. Baumholder capped an undefeated 2012 with a 26-0 victory over Rota on Nov. 3. The small-school division has since been scrapped, with both teams moving up to Division II, but the rivalry stayed intact as both teams were placed in the seven-team north region of the 13-team division. With the win, the Bucs (2-1) recover from last week’s loss to four-time defending champion Bitburg. They’ll host Alconbury on Sept. 28. Rota is now winless through three games entering the bye week at the midpoint of its season. The Admirals visit Alconbury on Oct. 5.
