BRISTOL, England - Ryan Nestor scored on a 75-yard run and a set up a second score on 60-yard pass from Andrew Mepstead on Saturday to fuel the Bristol Academy Pride to a 25-18 Division I victory over the visiting Heidelberg Lions.Bristol, long known as Filton to DODDS-Europe schools, took an early 7-0 lead on a sneak by starting quarterback Tom Clancy and maintained it when Mark McCallum blocked a Heidelberg conversion-kick attempt. The PAT kick followed Daniel White’s long TD run.Nestor, who accumulated 100 yards rushing and 140 yards receiving before leaving the game with an injury, took over after halftime, breaking his TD run and pulling in the 60-yard pass. The strike was set up by a Dale Somers interception and carried to the Heidelberg 2, where Nestor was hit and was injured. Bristol cashed in, however, to make it 19-6.Heidelberg made it a one-score game in the third quarter when Justin Rodney swept right end for a 45-yard TD, but the Pride put the game away with a 90-yard drive that consumed 10 minutes. Denzel Hammitt capped the march with a scoring plunge.Heidelberg posted a consolation score when White broke another long TD run, according to Bristol coach Benjamin Herod, but the Pride then ran out the clock.Bristol (2-1) travels to Vilseck on Saturday. Heidelberg (1-2) is to host Lakenheath the same day.
