BITBURG, Germany -- The Bitburg Barons avoided an unfamiliar form of streak Saturday with a 36-6 win over the visiting Rota Admirals.

The victory improved to 3-1 on the season with an emphatic win a week after taking an embarrassing 50-8 loss against Ansbach.

Baron star Curtiss Wilson chased off any lingering malaise from the previous Saturday by returning the opening kickoff 82 yards for a touchdown and successfully running in the two-point conversion. With the Admirals trailing just 16-6 at halftime, Wilson added a hat trick of second-half touchdown runs to put the game well out of reach.

John Blake scored on an 8-yard run and two-point conversion in the second quarter for Bitburg. Rota's Estevan Gallardo threw a 5-yard pass to DeAngelo Gallardo to keep the Admirals close at intermission.

Wilson finished with 19 carries for 233 yards and four total touchdowns. Blake totalled 44 yards and spearheaded the Baron defense with six tackles and two sacks. Dom Ferneding and Tyler Block tied Blake for the team-high tackle total.

Estevan Gallardo was effective via air and ground for Rota, completing 13 of 26 pass attempts for 145 yards and carrying eight times for 61 yards. Pat LaRobis was the main weapon in Gallardo's aerial attack with five catches for 62 yards.

The Barons are just four quarters removed from the end of their regular season. but that last game is a good one: they'll travel to Hohenfels on Oct. 4 for a rematch of the semifinal game that ended Bitburg's DODDS-Europe-record winning streak and catapulted the Tigers to the Division II European title.
