ANSBACH, Germany – A visit to Ansbach proved to be successful Tuesday for both the boys and girls soccer teams from Bamberg.The male Barons edged the host Cougars, 1-0, to remain atop the Region III standings, while their female counterparts earned a 2-1 victory – their first of the season.IQ Sandod scored the only goal of the game in the second half off an assist from Tyler Lewis for the boys, who stand at 4-1 on the season. Bamberg is a game ahead of Heidelberg in the standings, despite losing to the Lions last Friday.Ansbach goalkeeper Mikael Vicente had 11 saves to keep the game tight, but the Cougars fell to 0-5-1.Heather Smith and Hanna Felling each scored for the Bamberg girls in the first half. Ansbach’s Michelle Koski found the net in the second half, but the Cougars (1-5) couldn’t get the equalizer. Ola Wisniewska had seven saves for Bamberg, which improved to 1-4.Both Ansbach teams host Patch on Saturday, while Bamberg travels to Black Forest Academy.
