HOHENFELS, Germany – Ansbach emerged victorious in a clash of Division II football contenders Friday night, outlasting host Hohenfels 42-28. Both teams entered the game undefeated atop the division’s southern region, and each team’s stars put up postseason-worthy performances. Dorian Jones carried 43 times for 266 yards and four touchdowns for Ansbach, winning an individual duel with Tigers running back David Vidovic, who collected 213 total yards and three touchdowns. Cougars quarterback Bailey Ward threw a touchdown pass to Nick Abel and scored another on the ground while completing 5 of 11 attempts for 97 yards. Austin Benton led the Ansbach defense with 14 tackles and a sack, while Josh Pleake added eight tackles and a sack. Tony Seantomas joined Vidovic in the Hohenfels scoring column, and the two also led the team’s defensive efforts. Vidovic had 15 tackles and an interception, while Seantomas recorded eight tackles and a sack. Other Tiger standouts included AJ Day (two tackles, sack) and Juliene Byles (seven tackles). The Cougars, now tied with Vicenza as the south’s lone undefeated squads, host Aviano on Sept. 28. Hohenfels (2-1) will face visiting Naples on the same day.
