All-Europe striker Kyri Bye-Nagel made her 2005 debut memorable as she scored five goals in the Hanau’s 5-4 road victory over scrappy Mannheim.
According to Mannheim boys coach Martin Goering, Bye-Nagel, after providing her team a 2-0 halftime lead, broke a 4-4 tie in the final minute.
Mannheim, which battled back from one-goal deficits three times, had a breakaway after Bye-Nagel’s final goal, but Hanau was able to bring down the Lady Bison’s ball carrier in the box without being called for a foul.
Tiesha Jackson scored twice and added an assist in the opening game of the season for both teams.

Aviano frosh stars again: At Aviano, Italy, freshman Anna Schrader scored her fourth and fifth goals of the season and added an assist for Aviano as the Saints blanked visiting Sigonella 4-0 for their 17th straight victory.
Kassie Mangosing and Bree Mariz also found the net for Aviano (2-0), which shut out its second consecutive opponent behind the goalkeeping of Cheri McNeely and Ingrid Bratteng.
Wiesbaden ties ISB: At Wiesbaden, Jessi Eidem and Sara Roderick combined for the Warriors’ only score of the game in a 1-1 tie with Interantional School of Brussels that opened the Division I season for both teams.
Eidem, who scored the goal, and Roderick also dominated the midfield, according to their coach, Jim Campbell.
The Warriors, 0-1-1 overall, play at Würzburg on April 7. ISB, which blanked Lakenheath 2-0 in its nonconference season-opener on March 19, tied the game on a second-half goal by Frances Kershaw. Goalkeeper Zain Al-Amer, who made 10 saves, preserved the tie.
Brussels stops Menwith Hill: In a Division III game at Menwith Hill, England, Becky Wilson, Chelsea Blandford and Whitney Hennes scored to help the Brussels Lady Brigands beat the Mustangs 3-1.
Hennes also set up a goal for Brussels. Danielle Joseph scored in the second half for Menwith Hill in the season opener for both teams.
