Winning pitcher Mickey Cavalieno tossed a seven-inning, complete-game five-hitter Sunday as Eifel, a team composed of players from the Bitburg and Spangdahlem communities in Germany, downed Wiesbaden 6-4 in the championship game of the Youth Activities Senior Baseball Tournament at Brunssum, Netherlands.
With the tying runs on base in the top of the final inning, Cavalieno fanned a Wiesbaden batter for the final out in this event for players aged 16-18 years old.
Eifel led all the way, scoring a pair of runs in the second inning, one more in the fourth and three in the fifth.
Wiesbaden scored a run in the fourth and three in the seventh before Cavalieno was able to put out the fire.
On Saturday, Eifel defeated AFNORTH 6-5 and Wiesbaden beat Vogelweh 8-2 to reach the championship game.
