AFN-TV is going for the cycle of sorts.

Starting Friday, the network plans to usher in the 2011 Major League Baseball season by airing 18 games in five days, featuring every team at least once. AFN will use four of its channels — AFN-Sports, AFN-Xtra, AFN-Atlantic and AFN-Pacific — to squeeze them all in, be it live or tape-delayed.

The lineup leads off with the Detroit Tigers visiting the New York Yankees at 7 p.m. CET on AFN-Sports. A second game on the sports channel follows with the St. Louis Cardinals hosting the San Diego Padres at 10 p.m.

“We’ve never done this before,” AFN sports planner Willie Price said in a news release. “Thirty teams in five days is the ultimate fan experience.”
