American Forces Network’s coverage of the Winter Olympic Games has been shamefully terrible. The length of the air time given to the Games and the events they have chosen to show are lacking.

I turn the TV on to watch some of the Games and what have I seen most of the time? Curling, and not even the USA. I am just glad I have access to Japanese stations so I can watch the more popular events and events in which Americans might medal.

While women’s figure skating was on a Japanese channel, the only event being shown on the AFN channels was a hockey game [between two European teams].

The amount of time AFN has allotted to the Winter Games is too short. It has stopped coverage for programs such as "Dr. Phil" or soap operas. The Olympic Games are the most important thing to be showing on TV while they are going on.

When the 2012 Summer Games come, I hope the people who work for AFN have learned from these Games and do better.

AFN should have done everything it could to show every event an American is in every day.
