I’m so glad to hear that the military came to its senses about flying those World War II vets who were stuck in Japan ("Military relents, provides flight for Iwo Jima vets," article, March 4).

[The military] certainly should have respect and compassion for those men who sacrificed so much in their youth! Hopefully, it would have also considered the advanced age and possible health problems of these gentlemen.
