In response to “Bushes’ low profile at Hood,” (letter, Nov. 13): As was written, it seems that [former President George W. and Laura Bush] wanted to sneak under the radar and give their condolences to those in the Fort Hood, Texas, family.

Unlike some, the Bushes see these matters as private. I recently walked into an office and saw a picture of the former president that read “Do you miss me yet?”

Well, for this soldier, sir, you don’t know how much. As Americans, keep the Fort Hood family in your prayers; many of us are forever grateful for the character and disposition by which the Bushes obviously, even still today, carry themselves.
