I wanted to make everyone aware that the free military tax centers around Germany are not all they say they are.

I have done my taxes at free tax centers in Heidelberg, Hanau and Garmisch, Germany. This year I decided to take my taxes to a tax professional (thank heavens I did), and just have him/her take a look at my past taxes. Come to find out I have lost out on more than $3,000 over the past three years and that their mistakes are irreversible because of the state I claim.

I would recommend that just because the Army offers a free tax service does not mean people have to have them done there. The people who work there are volunteers and do not have sufficient training to prepare some people’s taxes.

I recommend that people take their taxes to a tax professional and pay the little extra money to have them done the right way. Most professionals guarantee their service by offering to pay if they make a mistake. Do not make the mistake I made by taking your taxes to the free Army tax center.
