I think it’s funny that the writer of “Thanks for dropping Coulter” (letter, Sept. 3) brings up disrespect toward our president as one of the reasons he was glad Stripes dropped columnist Ann Coulter.

I’m wondering if he ever wrote a letter to the editor asking that Arianna Huffington’s column be withdrawn because she was disrespectful of President George W. Bush. Somehow I doubt it, as the “left” has always had double standards on what is permissible.

I think Stars and Stripes bowed to the left’s demands that Coulter’s column be pulled from its publication, and I think that it dropped Huffington’s column to prove it was fair and balanced.

It was a weak decision by leadership of the paper. It is sad that they feel responsible to decide what we read instead of letting adults who are serving their country make the decision for themselves.

They should provide the service to their readers and let the readers decide what to read. Instead, they let the opinion of a few dictate censorship for all.

Nice job, Stripes … not!
