Wow, are you kidding me ("‘Jump Start’ cartoon tasteless," Dec. 14)? Tasteless? I don’t think so. It was a slice of life.

The fact is, police officers do face dangerous situations in real life. The cartoonist has a cartoon based on a cop and his family. It would be absurd to think that the cop in question would never in his career face that kind of situation.

The way the cartoonist decided to deal with it is by adding a little karma to the mix. The cop did a kind deed and was given a gift by some homeless people that wound up saving his life.

It was neither tasteless nor degrading in any way.
