YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan — The 374th Airlift Wing picked up an “excellent” rating in its Installation Readiness Response Inspection, base officials announced.

The IRRI, held March 5-7, was Yokota’s second major readiness review by Pacific Air Forces in less than a year.

“I couldn’t be more proud,” said Col. Scott Goodwin, the 374th Airlift Wing commander. “This wing not only proved … how well we can execute our mission under pressure, but we also set new standards and established several ‘best practices’ that the inspectors will take back with them.”

Col. Tom Davidson, the 374th Airlift Wing’s inspector general, said the evaluation was brief but intensive. It was centered on the base’s ability to prepare personnel and equipment for a wartime contingency.

Among the key areas inspected, Davidson said, were the deployment and reception of forces, noncombatant evacuation operations, base defense during a transition to war and preparation of wing aircraft for combat.

Yokota’s grade was based on the Air Force’s standard five-tier evaluation system, which delivers marks for outstanding, excellent, satisfactory, marginal and unsatisfactory efforts. Outstanding team and individual performers also were identified by PACAF.
