SPANGDAHLEM, Germany — The postponed court-martial for an airman accused of killing his 8-month-old son has been set for Sept. 8, a Spangdahlem spokeswoman said Thursday.

Airman 1st Class Horace Wickware is charged with murder, involuntary manslaughter, assault and negligent homicide and child endangerment relating to the alleged abuse and death of his infant son last fall, Air Force authorities have said.

Wickware’s trial, expected to take as long as two weeks, was scheduled to begin June 27 in Spangdahlem. However, the judge in the case last month granted a defense request for a continuance to allow the defense more time to prepare, an Air Force spokeswoman said at the time.

Cordale Wickware died Oct. 30 at a hospital in Trier, Germany. The baby suffered fractures to both arms, a broken upper leg, several broken ribs, burns and a brain injury, according to Joern Patzak, the lead prosecutor in the German case against Wickware’s wife.

In May, Jennifer Wickware was convicted in German court of maltreatment, negligence with lethal consequences and failing to adequately care for her son. She was sentenced to five years in jail.
