VILSECK, Germany — A U.S. soldier based in Vilseck was sentenced Thursday to three years’ confinement, a bad-conduct discharge and reductions in rank and pay for rape, forcible sodomy and indecent assault charges, 1st Infantry Division officials said Tuesday.

Spc. Gideon Daneshrad, 25, of Vilseck’s 561st Medical Company (Dental), also was found guilty of indecent acts in connection with a pair of assaults on female soldiers in 2004, according to a release from Maj. Todd Federici, 1st ID chief of military justice.

In the most serious charges, Daneshrad was accused of videotaping himself indecently assaulting a female soldier who had “passed out” in his room in July 2004, before raping and sodomizing her while she was unconscious, Federici said.

Daneshrad also was charged with another count of indecent assault for pushing a female soldier onto a bed and biting her back in March 2004, but was convicted of the lesser offense of “assault consummated by a battery” in that incident, according to Federici’s release.

Additionally, Daneshrad was found not guilty of further indecent assault and indecent acts charges stemming from alleged actions that also occurred in March 2004, the report states.

Daneshrad was found guilty by a panel of four officers and four enlisted servicemembers in the general court-martial, according to the release. In addition to his confinement and discharge, he will be reduced to the rank of private and sentenced to forfeiture of all pay and allowances while confined.
