SEOUL — Discovery of ammunition outside a Dongdaemun Mormon church last week prompted U.S. Forces Korea to issue a warning about attending off-base religious services, according to a notice from the 8th Army.

The warning, issued by 8th Army commander Lt. Gen. Charles Campbell on Saturday, reminds USFK personnel and servicemembers to exercise extra caution while outside of military installations, specifically at religious activities.

On Friday, South Korean police officials received a threat against a Jesus Christ Church of Latter-Day Saints church in Dongdaemun, according to the notice issued by 8th Army headquarters on Saturday.

The South Korean officials found 79 rounds of 7.62 mm x 39 mm caliber ammunition near the church, the notice said. The ammunition was found in an alley next to the church, said a member who answered the phone there Monday afternoon.

Officials said South Korean police are investigating the incident.
